Dr. Neal J. Winzelberg was born and raised in New York City and attended New York University. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn, NY. He did a residency in internal medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in The Bronx and then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and liver disease at New York Medical College/Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a multitude of gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Including acid-related disorders, celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohns Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. As well as colon cancer screening, malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract and diseases of the liver and pancreas.
He has been in practice in Ocean County, New Jersey for over 25 years and has performed many thousands of endoscopic procedures including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, polyp removal and ERCP. He also performs BARRX ablation of Barrett’s Esophagus. Dr. Winzelberg is well respected throughout the community as a compassionate and thorough gastroenterologist. He is on staff at Ocean Medical Center and Southern Ocean Medical Center and is the Chief of Gastroenterology at Ocean Medical Center.
Dr. Winzelberg is dedicated to the care of people with special needs. In 2010, he was named the Healthcare Professional of the Year by the ARC acknowledging his years of delivering compassionate care to the disabled in Ocean County. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the Crohns and Colitis Foundation and has been named a “NJ Top Doc” 2017 and 2018.
